One Flesh ReviewFrustrated at reading nothing of substance, I finally looked over the back cover and found that Clay McConkie has a BACHELOR'S degree in HISTORY and a PH.D. in EDUCATION! NO WONDER! What in the world qualifies a person with an undergraduate degree in history and a Doctorate in Education to take the liberty of writing a book about marital relationships???
Without at least a Master's Degree in Counselling or Social Work, how can you consider yourself qualified to be expert enough to write a book on a subject as complex as Counselling and Relationships? What exactly is this man basing his expertise on? The fact that he is married? Well congratulations Mr McConkie, that qualifies a large percentage of the world's population to write a book about marriage also, and the majority of them would no doubt be much better than the archaic ideas you have produced.
I made the mistake buying a book from this same author several years ago, The Ten Lost Tribes, in which we are expected to accept that the author's -interest- in the Middle East, and the fact that he has -lived in Europe- somehow qualifies him to represent his Ph.D. as if an expert on the subject of the Israeli Diaspora. A legitimate Ph.D. would know better than to misrepresent him/herself as an authority in fields completely unrelated to his/her subject of expertise.
Obviously Mr McConkie plans to continue to pump out garbage on subjects completely unrelated to his degrees. Is it -Publish or Perish- Mr. McConkie? Are you so pathetically weak in your own fields that you cannot risk being found out by your peers? Well refuse like this will be found out, and in the end your name will be nothing but a wretched joke everywhere.One Flesh Overview
