Wedding Etiquette: The What, How & When of Weddings ReviewI did not find this book helpful at all. It is very old school and dry- not even remotely contemporary and also very english. I must have flipped to the front page five times to see when it was written- i thought about 1940 but it was 1997! The only useful info in the book was common sense and you could find it on any internet bridal site- if you didnt know it already. plus it refers to many rules of etiquette and religion in England that are not relevant in North America.Wedding Etiquette: The What, How & When of Weddings Overview

Viva el amor: The Latino Wedding Planner, A Practical Guide for Arranging a Traditional Ceremony and a Fabulous Fiesta ReviewI jumped at the idea of buying this book because I wanted to get tips for planning my New York based- Latino wedding.
Clearly for someone like me who is from a Latino/Caribbean country it was not particularly helpful. Most of the book focused on what I characterize as more Mexican traditions. I can't really say that any of the vendors or sites that they suggest are good ones for New Yorkers or those of us that live in the Northeast. I'd love to find a book that focused more on Cuban, Dominican or Puerto Rican wedding traditions. I also had a small wedding that cost about $3500. and was planned in less than 3 months.It was overwhelming at times but we pulled it off, if this book was available a few years ago, at least we could have avoided the stress of planning a wedding much less one that cost so little and in such a short amount of time. The Wedding Sourcebook ReviewIf I could use decimals, I would have given this a 3.5.
This is a great book for a bride who has never given a moment's thought to planning a wedding. This book covers the super-duper basics of venue selection, clothing, invitations, pre-wedding parties, etc. If you fall into this category, this book will be very useful starting point and, as such, a good investment.
If, however, you are a bride who has already purchased a few wedding books or are a regular on wedding Web sites, this book will likely repeat a lot of information you have already read, without adding any new insights.
Here are a few notes:
- The section on gown selection is quite good. It has easy-to-understand descriptions and line drawings. (If you ever wondered what the heck a "basque waist" is, you'll find it here.)
- Many of the vendors listed in this book are located in California. This can be helpful to California brides.
- The book is very aesthetically pleasing. (The translucent book jacket is an elegant touch.)
- The information on pre-wedding parties (e.g. showers, engagement parties) is pretty simplistic. If you are planning a pre-wedding event, I would suggest looking elsewhere for information.
- This is geared to a bride who would like to have a *very traditional* wedding. If this is not your style, this book will likely not be helpful to you.The Wedding Sourcebook Overview
